Our commitment
The Manx Family Community Association Ltd is committed to making this website accessible to as many people as possible, regardless of ability or technology. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA.
As a community charity serving families, older residents and people across the Isle of Man, accessibility is not just a standard for us, it reflects who we are and who we serve.
What we have done
This website has been built with accessibility in mind. Measures include:
- Semantic HTML throughout, with proper heading hierarchy on every page
- All images have descriptive alternative text
- Sufficient colour contrast between text and backgrounds
- Fully navigable by keyboard, including a "Skip to main content" link
- ARIA labels on interactive elements such as navigation, buttons and forms
- Clear, readable fonts (Bricolage Grotesque and Figtree) with responsive sizing
- Form fields with visible labels and clear focus indicators
- Motion is deliberately gentle: soft colour movement and smooth transitions rather than sudden or flashing effects
- If your device is set to reduce motion, the site honours that setting: animations are switched off and the opening animation on the home page is skipped
- Responsive design that works across desktop, tablet and mobile devices
- No content that flashes more than three times per second
Known limitations
While we aim for full accessibility, we are aware of the following areas where improvements may be needed:
- The gallery section uses a grid layout that may not convey the same experience to screen reader users
We are committed to addressing these over time.

Enforcement
While the Isle of Man does not currently have specific web accessibility regulations, the Equality Act 2017 (Isle of Man) includes provisions regarding disability discrimination in the provision of services. We are committed to meeting the spirit and intent of this legislation.
